Why do you want to rank high on google?
Being in the first two pages of a google search is extremely beneficial for your business and it gives you an extreme advantage over other businesses. As a business with a presence online, your goal is to be the first company that comes up when your industry is typed into google, because the chances are the person searching will most likely click on the business that is the number one ranking.
Google has an organic algorithm that ranks all links based on many different factors, giving consumers the most credible and accurate link relating to their search.
Some of the factors that google use to rank websites are:

Fast loading time
Mobile friendliness
Links
Optimized content

Businesses are spending a millions each year on SEO (search engine optimisation)
What is SEO?
SEO refers to the strategies used to boost your website rankings on search engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing. As well as optimising the content on your webpage to increase the amount of traffic visitors and overall web page visibility.
There are 3 strategies that web page developers can use in relation to search engine marketing.

Paid search takes the forms usually of (PPC) pay per click, and this allows web pages to advertise their webpage in the advertising section of google, which is at the very start of your search results, just before the organic search rankings. Although this allows your business to gain exposure, it doesn't always mean that searchers will click on your webpage because unfortunately, most people skip past the advertisement results.

Invest in search engine optimisation
This takes on the form of adopting organic strategies such as:
Quality Content - ensure your content is relevant and of high quality, this means high quality images and good quality text.
Start Blogging - Blogging allows for new content to be posted regularly, and this can drive volumes of traffic to your webpage each week. Blogging also allows for your webpage to include outbound links which also improve SEO.
Outbound Links - As spoken of prior, outbound links are in text links that direct the click outbound to another webpage, make sure they are credible sources and are RECENT.
Connect your social media - This will improve your SEO as many people search on social media platforms, therefore you MUST have your social accounts linked on both your webpage and your accounts to increase your webpage traffic and also increase your social media account engagement.
Keywords - Ensure your are including strategic keywords that your consumers will search for.
